This will be an intensive 10 day course, enabling you to develop or improve your tiling skills. The first week will take you through the tiling process from start to finish, giving you the confidence to proceed with your own tiling projects and at the same time, how to avoid common mistakes.
The second week will include "wet room" installation, underfloor heating, fixing to flexible surfaces and working with natural stone etc.
Course Objectives
To become competent in the following:
- Estimating quantities and choosing the suitable adhesives and grouts needed for specific projects
- Setting out the wall prior to tiling, fixing tile battens, priming and preparation of walls prior to tiling
- Spreading adhesives and fixing, and cutting tiles
- Cutting tiles around sockets, windows and doors
- Grouting of tiled area—how to get that professional finish
- Getting good silicone seal to baths, sinks and worktops.
- Setting out floors prior to tiling, preperation of floors and cutting and fixing tiles to floors.
- Wet Room installation
- Underfloor Heating installation
- Working with natural stone, marble, slate, mosaics, porcelain etc
- Fixing tiles to flexible surfaces.
- Advanced tile design and decorative tile fixing.
- Estimating and pricing.
